In the following two folders:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Winstep\Backup
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Winstep\Versions

Are the files contained within, critical for normal operation of the program ?

or are these "backups and updates" safe to be cleared out to save over 87megs on my tightly managed SSD ?

(I use rollback software as a matter of course so the ability to self-repair is not imprtant here)

Thankyou

You can safely delete the *contents* of both those folders if you want.

As Winstep applications update to newer versions, they first save the executable files of the previous version to the Backup folder in case something goes wrong and the user decides to roll back (for instance, the user is trying out a new version that is no longer covered by his 1 year of free updates).

The Versions folder holds the setup file(s) of previous updates. Before deleting them you should either burn those files to a CD or download the full setup from the Winstep web site and burn THAT file to a CD.

This way you can always go back to a specific version your license key works with.
