hi folks!

nextstart is one of the best, but one of the user-unfriendliest progs i ever used ;)

1. question:

when i'm acitvating "transparent" i cant see the icons any more... ?s this a bug that hadn't been fixed yet?

2. question

ive downloaded a theme and now the systray is really FAT... i want a smaller one... where can i change this?

thx in advance ;)

Un-friendliest?! Gah! Why do you say that?

1) Nobody else seems to be complaining. What version of Windows are you running? And what version of NextSTART?

2) If the Systray is really fat, then this is probably because you expanded your Windows taskbar to be more than one row high OR you've set your Windows taskbar to be vertical. Temporarily disable NextSTART task management, make your windows taskbar horizontal _and_ single row, then turn NS task management back on.

If that is not it, post a screenshot here or send it over to support for me to have a look at.

i guess some screenshots in the help-file would be a great idea

it seems like this app is a 1-man-job isnt it? if it is so.. great job! like i said.. one of the best apps i've ever used...

1) im using winxp sp2 and ns 3.0 as a test-version.. i'll try the latest version now

2) problem's fixed... windows taskbar WAS expanded..

Keep in mind that the ability to render the systray background transparent, being a 'hack', is not without it's draw backs: if you are using a XP theme that has a complicated systray background texture (as oposed to a simple gradient or a solid color) NextSTART might have problems rendering the systray background transparent.

after upgrading everything worked ;)

now there's only one question left:

can nextstart remember the last positions of menus etc.?

cause after startup the systray and the tasklist is where it should be.. but the nextstart bar isnt...

thx in advance

Stepp, it's very hard to know what you mean without actually seeing it: you mention 'menu positions' and then a 'bar'. Is the bar you are talking about the main NextSTART menu, a hotspot button or the NextSTART startbar?

Anyway, menus do remember positions - provided you didn't set the menu to 'Snap to Mouse' in the Hotspots tab. Note that dragging a menu around will automatically update/change the 'startup' position.
