I'm giving a try to Winstep Extreme since yesterday with the trial version and I got this problem:

When I select the Magnify effect and I move my mouse over dock's icons nothing happen at all; all other effects seem to be working.
Also the Magnify effect it's working when I drag a new icon to the Dock, but as soon as I drop it the Magnify effect is gone again.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall but it's still the same.
On my other PC it's working fine... so I guess it may be some kind of conflict with other apps? any idea?

Thanks

tacchan23,

Did you check the 'Effect Settings' after the Magnify effect? I have mine set to 112 pixels, 3 icon span. It looks marvelous.

Good Luck,
Grouch

Everything is set properly. Just there is no magnify effect at all :( (other than when I drag a new icon to the dock, in this case the magnify effect will show)

A commonly conflicting program is the Logitech SetPoint software. Are you running that program perhaps? Or Kaspersky?

Ok, hold on, Setpoint's interference had to do with windows getting 'blanked' out - this is because Setpoink hooks into every process and then sporadicaly sends each window a WM_PAINT message, which can be fatal for layered windows (windows with alpha chanels). Why a mouse driver needs to hook into every process, send windows sporadic WM_PAINT messages, and why it doesn't check first to see if a window has the layered window bit set, is anybody's guess.

But I don't see a relation with this specific case. Sounds more like the Multi Media high resolution timer not firing for some reason, although that too is unlikely.

As for AV security suites, IIRC, where they might interfere is in blocking Nexus from starting or, apparently, from launching other programs/URLs. With the paid Winstep applications, Comodo's sandbox has also been known to cause the self integrity check to fail, thus preventing the applications from registering correctly.
