I have been trying to go through the settings and cannot figure it out.

I want to have a dock show the labels of the icons.
I can see labels when I hover but I want them visible in the dock.

The reason is I have a lot of icon groups that are the same icon yet differ only by label. Examples:

12 remote desktop links
15 word docs for a specific project

Docks by definition do NOT display labels.

You might want to upgrade to Nexus Ultimate: among many other enhancements, it supports something called the 'Shelf', essentially a tabbed dock. Not only does it allow you to categorize your applications into different tabs, as icons on it can display labels:

I just posted a wishlist request in regards to this.

I am a nexus ultimate users, and would like this functionality in the normal dock - but also be able to align the text left or right. Can this be done?

Sorry, but docks are not meant to display text labels below the icons. If labels is what you want, use the Shelf or even NextSTART menus. :D

Hi Jorge.

If you take a look below:

What I see here, is two vertical docks next to each-other. This is how I want to setup my desktop.

At the moment I can do this more or less, but I need to make new icons with a custom label built-in and disable the nexus labels.

I would like to use the shelf labels inside the dock instead, like you see above.

I have bought nexus ultimate so I am fine with it being a paid feature (also, in regards to that could I please get beta access? I have submitted the group request).

Thanks

-Ash

And what I see are a bunch of static buttons with text on them.

Look, adding text to docks will never happen. I played with the idea in the begining, and gave up on it for several reasons. It is simply not compatible with typical dock effects such as magnify, etc, both graphically as well as in terms of performance (drawing text is slow, especially when using GDI+).

Another problem, for instance, is that icons in the dock will shrink dynamically when required in order to fit the whole dock into the screen: now try displaying any meaningful text in the space below 16x16 icons.

An idea to be implemented needs to be of general interest and also be compatible with what is already there. Visible labels on docks are not.

The best you can do is install Winstep Xtreme - the hotspot buttons in NextSTART allow you to add buttons with icons and text (just don't expect any fancy mouse over effects) which launch applications, run internal commands, or open menus.
