Ok, I was under the impression that Adobe Acrobat was an editor for PDF files. It's not. The whole thing, from my perspective, is nothing but an overpriced PDF compiler that Adobe manages to charge $400 for.

The text must actually be first written/modified in Word and THEN compiled to PDF via Adobe Acrobat.

One would think that such an expensive tool would at least be able to let you edit the text in it in a WYSIWYG manner, but alas, not at all - you can only make simple changes. Anything more than that must be done using the source files with a proper word processing application.

You can read the preliminary version (still with German images and the Proxma logo) HERE.

Awesome news, thank you very much.

If you still need it, some methods to edit PDF files. The benefit of pdf files is that they can't be easily edited. Unfortunately that's the boon of pdf files too :P You might want to take a look at Open Office with the PDFImport extension as that seems to be more suitable for what you actually want to do (for example if you want to add in some text about new features).

Thanks. In the mean time I got the original source Word file from the translator and I'm going to work with that, then compile to PDF.

Apparently having the View set to 'Normal' in Word scrambled the whole layout. Setting the view to 'Print Layout' fixed that problem.

So I'm set to go, which is what really matters in the end. :D

Currently busy finishing the next release. Once the new User Guide has been revised, clicking the Help button in the application will re-direct to the PDF's page on the Winstep web site instead of the FAQs page as it does now.

Personally, I'm all for a local copy, however big it may be. Needs to be self-updateable (make sense?) If there are any changes to the manual, it can update, just like a regular app.

Jorge, you're a peach of a guy :-)
