hey guys, ive just tried this peace of software because im dissappointed that objectdock is slaggish and not updated frequently.

but i have one problem, i have to really go point my cursor to the very bottom for teh nexus bar to appear. is there no way to make it appear earlier?

You know, a lot of users already complain about Nexus popping up when they don't intend it too (because they accidentaly bump the screen edge with their mouse pointer). Now imagine what would happen if I increased the area that activates the dock.

Corners and edges of the screen are proven by Fitts’s Law to be the most easily reached targets. That's because it's impossible to miss them, as their size is infinite in two dimentions: throw the mouse in any direction you desire and the odds are overwhelming that if you threw it with enough velocity, it will end up in one of the four screen edges or corners. This is only because your mouse cannot get past scren edges, thus making the size of the target infinite. Hope you understand what I mean.

There is only one situation where your request would make sense: that of multiple-monitors where the edges of more than one monitor overlap. But then that would also increase the likelyhood of problem #1 rearing its ugly head again, i.e.; the dock activating by accident (even though we can currently set an activation delay in the General tab of Preferences).

Wow this response was fast, well and object dock resolved it the way that u can manually set it from the admin panel. thats a major key selling point for me.

So maybe adding this feature leavng it as default would be something to consider?

I forgot to add the following: you can always associate a 'hotkey' to Nexus (Preferences -> Position & Behavior -> Advanced), which will activate the dock with a key combination. Perhaps that is what you want?

well, i do care. it takes too long to appaer even if i go to the very bottom of the screen. Im def loosing a few seconds and objectdock really does a better job there: its called

Mouse activition and sensivity:
Show dock when mouse touches edge
short delay <---------------> long delay

Lol. So THAT is what you want. I misunderstood your 'appear earlier', sorry: I thought you meant in terms of distance when you meant in terms of time. You must have been thinking 'what is this guy rambling on about?' all this time

Open Nexus Preferences, General tab, set Edge Bump Delay to minimum.

cheers mate, thats what i was looking for. though to be straight honest with u, for me it still takes too long even with the smallest setting compared to objectdock. could u make the delay even shorter? I have windows 7 64 bit

Response time with the slider set to the leftmost position is 100 ms (1/10th of a second). That's too short for you to even notice, so what you might want to do is increase the animation speed, or even disable animations completely (both settings also in the General tab of Preferences, right below the Edge Bump delay).

And you should read what the settings in Preferences say, all you have been asking for so far is right there.

ok, it does improve it a bit, but for me, i really have to hit the bottom of the screen hard, sometimes twice.

it doesnt always work though, especially teh second time when u try to hit the bottom straight after it dissappered once before. not smooth

Actually, shouldn't *all* the delays be independently configurable for each dock or shelf? Like, I may want the shelf animation to have a very quick appearance and a slow disappearance, whereas a dock I may want to appear and disappear with medium speed. Or, I could want the shelf to persist for long before hiding itself, and a dock to bugger off immediately after the mouse is off it.
My point is, all these options should be in the behaviour tab of each dock or shelf, and not half in there and half in the main properties (and a few not implemented).
Just a thought...

Not sure what you're using, if it's Xtreme or not, but are you bumping to activate the Desktop Modules? From my experience, the Desktop Modules behave exactly the way you describe, not the Docks and Shelfs.
