Hello,

I have a notebook with two graphics cards. One is onboard and the other dedicated. To improve The battery life, i can switch to the Onboard graphic card.
But every time, if I switch from the one card to the other, Nexus is closed completely. This Problem, I had not with the freeware. Is it a Bug or a incorrect setting? I hope someone can help me with this problem.

regards
Johnny

You're probably talking about a laptop with an intel iCore processor (i3, i5 or i7).
I have a laptop like that as well, with the Intel HD IGP and the HD5470 onboard GPU. I just tested it and it doesn't crash with Workshelf (the Winstep Xtreme version of Nexus).

Running 11.2 as well here. Sorry mate.....

You're kind of SOLO there, Johnny, sorry. First time I've heard about switching video cards on the fly, and I have no way of reproducing this issue here.

Since Kutagh does, and he was unable to reproduce the issue, perhaps it's a settings problem? Backup your current settings first (Advanced tab in Preferences) then try to switch off effects, etc, to see if you can make the problem go away. Report back your findings.

Jorge, never heard about Intels IGPs yet? (And now that AMD also releases their APU's which should have weaker CPUs but stronger GPUs...)

By the way, with closing nexus completely, do you mean the program is actually terminated? (Check the task manager whether Nexus.exe or Workshelf.exe is still running)
Because I can recall issues with the shelf getting off screen when going into a fullscreen application with a lower resolution than your native resolution... Which might be occurring here... But obviously that would only happen if the program is not terminated at all.

I just reinstalled the program. I kept the standard settings and then tested switching between graphic cards. I got the Security warning which you can see in the screen shot, after which the problem accured (as discribed above).

Known issue, the security warning appearing after a re-install or upgrade. Won't happen again, and has been fixed in the next release.

This means, my problem will be solved with the next update? It's not possible to work with it with this problem.. I have to use the Nexus free Edition. :(

If it can not be resolved, is a return (complain) possible?

No, fortunately not. But the problem is not repaired. I tried everything I can. Standard settings and some individual Settings. The phenomenon can not be prevented. And i don't know why the Nexus free Edition works without any problems. I really like the winstep xtreme product, but I'm at the end of my ideas.

Did you make a backup of your settings and then reset them to installation defaults (WorkShelf Preferences -> Advanced -> Troubleshooting)?

Did you try closing the desktop modules, then the Shelf, etc, until only a dock is left?

Either way, you should make a list here of the things you have already tried that didn't work. Maybe then I can offer more suggestions.

1. Yes, i did.
2. Yes.

After installing i closed the winstep taskbar, the Shelf and also hidden the Windows taskbar.. That everything is gone expect the dock (that i got same level as the free edition). Everything seems okay, before i'll switch the graphic card. After switching there is nothing to see anymore, only the windows taskbar and than i've to start up winstep manually again.

Go to the Windows Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer.

In the Event Viewer, open Windows Logs at the left, then click on 'Application'. Search this list for a red 'Error' entry. If WorkShelf is crashing, even if silently, Windows should put an entry there. If you find it, what does it say?

Checked, there is nothing to see in it. If I have not overlooked.

That's weird.

As Kutagh asked, is the program actually terminated? (Check in task manager if Workshelf.exe is still running)

I think i've found the problem. I've took some screen shots to show what i did.

I disabled the "Shelf" and the "taskbar", which you can see on the screen shot, and switch the graphic card...

Image

then the program is completly closed and is not longer displayed in the task manager:

I've checked the event viewer again and found these fault:

I found out that the problem occurs when i change from the intel (internally) graphic card to the ATI (dedicated) graphic card. There are no problems if i change to the other way.

So what can i do the solve that problem? :( Because i just want the Dock-Nexus displayed on the desktop and the moduls like the ram and cpu usage and the clock. At moment i still use the free version of Nexus, because i can change between the graphic cards without any problems.
