Just saw a nice comparison of object desktop and winstep in the latest Computer Shopper. WS beat OD :D

Anyway, it was a nice review. Although the screen shot was a bit outdated (no startbar or xtreme features...)

Nice to see it getting press.

Hey, I had no idea! Can you please scan it and send it to me?

EDIT: Scan the article, obviously, not the magazine. :D

And by the way, is that the US version of Computer Shopper? If so, it's the first time the US press pays any attention to Winstep Software (regardless of it being featured in countless other magazines all over the world).

If it is scanned I'd love to read it too. I've never seen customising software mentioned in a computer magazine other than a tiny sub-story.

Oh, European and Japanese magazines cover it ALL THE TIME. :D

Hmmm... wonder if there is some deep, hidden, meaning in this.

The only customising software I've seen in an Aussie magazine (I don't buy them all the time to be honest) is AIMutation. It's not even around anymore. I've never seen WinStep or any Stardock software reviewed. I even wrote to all the major PC magazines a few years ago about it. No response at all. :(

Very interesting. I wonder if the new preferences menu would rate any higher? Also, I don't know if it's possible or even a good idea, but would it help the average user (non-skinner) if the skinning preferences were located in a seperate area? This way the standard preferences area is less cluttered and skinners can find everything they need seperate from the rest of the preferences.

I hope that made sense :)

Jason, note that NextSTART Preferences (no doubt the reviewer's main source of complain) has already been greatly simplified in Xtreme.

And I love it ;)

I'm curious. Do you, as the software developer, contact the magazine to inform them of the upgrade since their article? I'd love to know how this works :)

I gotta admit, I agree with them about the help file. Every time I've accessed it, I've wished it was a standard Windows help file.
