I didn't block items on the dock so i can freely drag them to other places. Though, if I drag an item and move backward to the previous item position (where the original icon still appears), when releasing the item, the item will open itself, and also it will delete itself from the dock after opening.
I'm sure it this should work like this only with documents (images, text files ect.) dropped over programs; and they should not delete from the dock.
Could you fix this bug please? Also, can someone else confirm this bug?

i don't know if this is what you mean, but sometimes i'll click on an icon on the dock and accidentally drag slightly. this will cause the icon to just vanish. no point in looking to see if it just went to the desktop because from past experience it won't be there, so i end up just readding the icon for the app.

yes, that what i said, krazdkiller. It happens with any minimum drag&drop on itself. I don't know if it happens to you but with program (or shortcut) icons the program will try to open its own executable.

Yeah, I guess this explains the handful of complains I got about mysteriously missing dock icons.

yea i mentioned maybe having a way to separate the icon lock feature. one check box to keep icons from being dragged off the dock, and another to keep them from being dragged to the dock. this way you can set it up for what you like best.

...or just check the item type and if it is a folder/document/video/photo ect. dragged over another item - this last one being a program - launch the program with the dragged item as argument; otherwise, don't do anything (or just drop the item to the new position). You could make it an option in order to accept to open items on dragging from dock, or not.
