I am trying to get rid of the repetative Icons that appear on descktop everytime I open a program. The two circled items on the screenshot are waht I am talking about. The forst is a start menu button that I dont need since I already have a start menu button on the bottom dock. The other is a bar of opened programs which I also dont need since my dock shows me whats open.

Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of these. They are extremely annoying, lol.

Carlos

I think he has the Winstep Xtreme and what he wants to get rid of is the Open start menu button and NextSTART.
For NextSTART (the bar of opened programs) just right-click on an empty space and select Preferences then in the General tab deselect "Run NexSTART at Windows Startup", press Apply and then EXIT. You should never see ever again NextSTART at startup unless you'll change the settings.
For the open Start menu button, right-click on it and select Remove (or something similar) and the button will go away. I'm not sure wether it might be a docklet, but the removing process should be the same.

I'm sorry, here is the screen shot. Like mentioned above, one is a start menu button that I can't seem to get rid of and the other just displays what programs are open. In the screenshot I only had IE open.

Yep, as T3STY said, that is NextSTART with the taskbar (as a container to the Start button, task list, system tray, etc...) disabled. Since you disabled the container, the Start Button, tasklist and system tray must reside as floating objects on your desktop.

You can either do what he suggested and prevent NextSTART from running, or you can keep it running but prevent it from replacing the Windows taskbar: open NextSTART Preferences, Taskbar tab, clear the 'Allow NextSTART to replace the Windows taskbar'.

If you want to keep it exactly as it is (no taskbar, being it from Windows or from NextSTART) but get rid of the hotspot/Start button and the tasklist:

1. Open NextSTART Preferences
2. Go to the Taskbar tab
3. Make sure 'Allow NextSTART to replace the Windows taskbar' *is* enabled.
4. Click the Tasklist Settings button.
5. Check the 'Hide the Tasklist' setting.
6. Press Ok.
7. Go to the Hotspots tab in Preferences.
8. With Hotspot 00 selected, click the Edit button.
9. Change 'Hotspot button on the Desktop' to 'Hotkey only'.
10. Leave the hot key set to None and finish the Wizard.

Thank you all. That's exactly what I was looking for.
