I am about to purchase a Second monitor, will the Shelf go across both monitors or only 1?

It can go across both monitors, with some limitations, but are you sure you really want a shelf spanning the whole width of two monitors?

Anyway, good decision buying another monitor. 3 monitor system here, never going back. :D

I have dual monitors also. Across the bottom of one monitor is my shelf. Across the bottom of the other is the Windows task bar. I really like that arrangement.

Instead, I hate multi-monitor systems!
I have two monitors too, but I can't get used to the fact that AeroSnap won't work between two monitors (works only at extreme edges), and also some applications cannot be set to work on a specific monitor, or they can but some things (like pop-up messages) would still appear on the main monitor. That sucks...
Personally, I'd like a large monitor (minimum 27 inch) where I have all the space that I need. But that's just me ;)

@T3STY

Try DisplayFusion, a very good program to handle multi monitors. It lets you define which program opens in which monitor, set different wallpapers on each monitor and much more.

They have a free or commercial version: http://www.displayfusion.com/

Regarding the Aerosnap feature: Just use the keyboard shortcut Windows key + left or right arrow key. Works fine that way for me.

Going to try DisplayFusion, thanks :)
As for Win+Left/Right, I knew about those hotkeys, but it's quite different using the keyboard than dragging with mouse ;)

I used three monitor OR two monitor per case.

So one thing bugging me: when I changed from 2 to 3 monitor, the nexus startmenu went to another monitor. Because nexus recalculated the monitors and shuffled the numbers. Though my Samsung monitor is always my center monitor, so I don't understand it. Maybe this is a BIOS thing, but it is wrong!!

so a way to concretize at least the center monitor would be good.

Actually, monitor's numbers and order is decided by windows and by the output connector you use on your graphics card. If you switch the connectors on the graphics card it will result that you switched (for example) monitor 1 with monitor 2, where now the ex monitor 2 becomes the main and gets the number 1 in the monitors order, and ex monitor 1 becomes the secondary and gets number 2. In a 3-way monitor configuration it's the same thing.

So I think you shouldn't blame NexStart if it takes a monitor as another, it probably is aware of which monitors were previously (the last time) used ;)

NextSTART is different from WorkShelf, in that it uses the monitor number to decide where to place the taskbar, etc..., while WorkShelf relies on actual screen coordinates. The former could result in NextSTART objects 'jumping' from one monitor to another if you added or removed monitors.

This said, previous to v11.6, the monitor list was sorted by device order, which could be pretty confusing (for instance, Monitor 1 could be the rightmost monitor, Monitor 2 the leftmost and Monitor 3 the center).

After v11.6 both NextSTART and WorkShelf sort monitors from TOP to BOTTOM, LEFT to RIGHT. This means Monitor 1 is always the leftmost monitor, and the last monitor is always the rightmost monitor.
