Ok, I've got the idea on how to hide my desktop icons (General/Hide Icons). However, removing the checkbox from "Hide Icons" does not restore my desktop icons. Help, anyone??

Are you using Nexus or Winstep Xtreme?

Nexus Ultimate. I even added a module (Show Desktop Icons) and that didn't help.

And what happens if you exit Nexus Ultimate, do your Desktop Icons can back?

It's also possible that something other than Nexus Ultimate is hiding your desktop icons (you can even do that in Windows 7 itself by right clicking the Desktop and selecting the View menu).

Are you using something like Stardock Fences, for instance?

Once I exit Nexus, the icons do not return. The only way I can get them to appear is by using the Windows 7 View menu; nothing else works, other than a re-boot. I'm not using Stardock Fences.

So, try the following and let me know what happens, please:

1. Un-check the 'Hide Desktop icons' setting.

2. Restart Windows. Desktop icons should now be visible.

3. Right click on the left mini-tab of the Shelf and select 'Hide Desktop Icons' from the context menu that pops up. The desktop icons should become hidden.

4. Now right click again on the left mini-tab of the Shelf and select 'Show Desktop Icons'.

What happened?

Made no difference. Icons hide as soon as Nexus launches and remain hidden until icon appearance changes in Windows View context menu. Nothing else makes them appear.

Icons hide as soon as Nexus launches even though you have CLEARED the 'Hide Desktop Icons' setting?

Well, in that case try one more thing: exit Nexus and tell it NOT to run at Windows startup in the confirmation dialog. Now reboot your computer again (sorry, I know rebooting is a bit of a pain, but we need to establish something here).

What happened? My guess is that something else is doing the hiding, not Nexus.
