Post subject: Run-Time Error '5' - Invalid Procedure Call or Argument
PostPosted: Tue Jul 13, 2004 5:23 am
Windows NT 4.0 sp6a, Dual P3 1.13ghz, 256mb RAM, Matrox G400MAX (dual monitor).

i tried a few installs of the latest WinStep full and always the same thing.
1st - system folder always opens on startup
2nd - NextStart menu's are all empty though the correct folders are shown
then Winstep starts to freeze (no response) and processor goes nuts
then the Runtime error as subject says. then winstep crashes w/explorer and it all starts again.

thx for any assistance

Seems NextSTART version 3.x broke NT4 compatibility - probably because of a rogue Windows API call not supported under NT4.

Do you get the same problem with WorkShelf or only with NextSTART?

Though i don't get the runtime error with just Workshelf, it freezes right when i start it (even without NextStart).
Nothing functions can't open/close, move or anything..it's like a wallpaper and cpu max's out.

Ok, figured out what it is - it has to do with the multi monitor stuff which is not supported in NT4/Win95.

Next release (very soon now) will come with a fix.
