However, when dirctly double clicking on
C:\Windows\System32\SystemPropertiesProtection.exe I get the desired dialogue:

You're running Windows 64 bits right?

The Shelf is probably launching the 32 bit version of the application in SysWow64 instead of the 64 bit version in \System32\ as it should, because of the Windows automatic file system re-direction for 32 bit applications.

This has been fixed in the upcoming v15.9. Until then try making a shortcut to the app and *manually* point to the shortcut in the Item Properties editor. I *think* that will work, but I don't have time to check now.

This problem also happens with the Registry Editor. When you launch regedit.exe from the shelf it opens the 32 bit version instead of 64 bit. You can check by searching for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node. The WOW6432Node folder only shows up in the 64 bit version.

Changing the Shelf Entry Properties to the shortcut doesn't work. It still opens the 32 bit version. Changing it in the Shortcut Properties gives me an error saying I cannot point a shortcut to another shortcut.

I can't check it where I am now, but are you a registered user?

If so, you can always apply for access to the Beta section of the forum, where a beta of v15.9 that fixes this problem will be waiting for you. Otherwise you will have to wait for the release, sorry...

Yes, my system is x64.
The shelf entry property is C:\Windows\System32\SystemPropertiesProtection.exe so the 64 bit thingy should be loaded.
I have temporarily switched to "SysWow64" - this opens exactly the same item (see the screen shots above).
So I need to wait for the new version - and will temporarily use an ordinary shortcut from the desktop => This launches the intended item.
