I use Kvirc IRC client (https://kvirc.d00p.de/) on daily basis. Yesterday i have bought and installed winstep xtreme, and only icon that is not clickable in systray is the Kvirc icon. Everything else works, but this icon decided to not play nicely with winstep :). I would appreciate some fix for it.

Are you running the 32 or the 64 bit version?

Ok, I finally got around to install KVirc to see what the problem was.

Let me start by saying this: *all* the reports I ever got (and they are less than a handful) concerning this type of problem (i.e.; the tray icon of an application not responding to mouse clicks) were all concerning obscure applications (another recent example is 'Agnitum Outpost Pro', which is not even available to the public anymore).

What seems to be happening with this handful of apps is that they are all implementing their notification icons WRONG. They report their tray structure to be pre-NOTIFYICON_VERSION_4 (i.e.; pre-Windows Vista) but, in reality, they require a mouse click to be passed on to them using the NOTIFYICON_VERSION_4 format.

I solved the problem (at least for KVirc, but I suspect for the others too) by passing the notification/mouse click using BOTH formats. At first sight this does not seem to cause a problem with the other applications that implement their tray icon structures correctly. Let's hope this is indeed so.
