I had Nexus on an older computer. Now I have a new computer so I re-installed Nexus Winstep. I used to be able to put sub-docs inside an existing icon but now I can't. Does this have something to do with the version I've installed?

Thanks anyone :)

Hi!

My guess is that you installed the free version of Nexus instead of Winstep Xtreme?

You need to download Winstep Xtreme from the Winstep web site and then register it using the license key in the email sent to you on your last update subscription renewal.

I've forwarded a copy just in case you have trouble locating that email.

Sorry Jorge.

I can't find the way for me to do what I did before. That is, dragging in an icon under another one. It looks like it doesn't permit me to drag a folder inside (below) a main one?

Can you support me on this. Like in preferences I guess, somewhere I should see how to check mark this option.

Thanks

First make sure you are indeed running Winstep Xtreme (under Winstep Xtreme the dock component will be called 'WorkShelf') and not the free version of Nexus that does not support sub-docks (and that you are not running Nexus at the same time, which is possible to do).

Right click any dock icon -> Insert New Dock Item -> Sub-Dock

This will create an icon in the dock which will open the sub-dock when clicked on.

It is still possible to have a functional (i.e. non-dedicated) icon item that will launch an application and will open a sub-dock only when you click on the little sub-dock arrow, but this was disabled by default because of how hard it is to hit that arrow when the dock is magnifying and the parent icon is therefore moving all over the place.

To do this (which I think is what you meant) you will have to go to the properties dialog for that dock -> Behavior tab -> Sub-Docks -> Enable 'Allow attaching sub-docks to existing application shortcuts'

WoW !
Again Jorge, you explained exactly what I needed to know.
Now most of my "sub-folders" are in tune of what I had on my old computer.

YOU ARE THE BEST !

Depends... what do you call a 'floating dock' ?

Anyway, if you go to the Dock & Shelves tab in Preferences you can select any of the existing docks/shelves/drawers and delete or disable them.

Geez... Will people ever stop asking for the obvious or at least do so in an articulate way? :(

I mean, about 90-99% of questions that we see here could so easily be answered by the user him-/herself, just by checking things like 'Preferences' and the various settings, or Dock/Shelf 'Properties', or by doing a simple search of the forum, or checking the help literature on the website, or..., or..., or...! I despair! Totally! :(

Thank goodness at least I don't necessarily have to deal with such queries as I'm not any kind of official part of support. But what a PITA for the poor guy who has to 'play nice'. :( (Apologies, Jorge.)

Please ignore my previous questions. Going forward, I’ll search independently as you’ve suggested. Once again, I apologize. And also I apologize for not expressing myself clearly. English is not my native language.
