After updating to the latest version 16.02.1026 I can no longer open and close the CD/DVD tray. How do I revert back to the older version without messing up my settings ?

Working now. But every time I open or close the tray I have to close a pop up error window that says sorry, unable to eject media on drive D:(8/87) or
sorry, unable to load media on drive D: (4/87)

The first time I clicked, I got the same basic error message (with different numbers in the parentheses), but clicking a second time worked with no error messages. I clicked it a few more times just to be sure.

So I tried exiting Workshelf and restarting it, still no error message. So I completely exited Winstep and restarted it. Still nothing. The only thing left is to reboot. Not gonna do that until at least Monday because I'm going to be out of town all weekend.

Okay, I installed the silent update, and still no error message.

The numbers in parentheses are *crucial*. It's them that tell me where the function failed and why it failed.

87, for instance, means the function is returning ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER when issued a IOCTL_STORAGE_EJECT_MEDIA or IOCTL_STORAGE_LOAD_MEDIA command.

No idea why though.

You can help me figure out what the possible problem is so I can fix it, though.

For instance, you can tell me if having media in the drive when you open and close the CD tray makes a difference or not.

No disc in drive though I will try tomorrow,Also will try to reboot again. Shutting down tonight. Start up tomorrow. Fresh

Start up today no change. Put a cd in opened and closed the tray twice, no change. Played the cd, then opened and closed tray, no change same error message. Running windows 10 pro 64 bit

I also have another drive it's usb, so it can only open the drive. Tried that one and it opened it and still have the same error message.

An alternative to these problems with CD Tray is using NirCmd.

You make a shortcut of the main program (in the same folder or somewhere saved), plug in the modifiers in the properties of the shortcut, name the shortcut to your liking "Eject" for instance, customize the icon and put that in your tray.

I use this to control my volume for my system and muting. Though I haven't used a cd/dvd in years, this used to work just as well for that where needed.

You can use it for a crap load of tasks. It's pretty nifty really.
