| Post subject: | The End of an Era |
Today so sadly marks not only the death of the much loved Monarch of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II, but indeed, the end of an era, the end of the Second Elizabethan age. Without a doubt much could be said about the changes this unprecedented, long reign has witnessed, but this is neither the time nor the place for that. Instead, we should mourn The Queen's death but also, and more importantly perhaps, celebrate Her life, Her devotion to family and country, Her utter dedication to duty and long service to this country and indeed the Commonwealth. Sincere condolences also are due of course to all The Queen's immediate family. However, time will move on as it always does, and perhaps it is therefore also time to say, in the age-old tradition - The Queen is dead. Long live The King! At this tragic time, our thoughts must also be with His Majesty King Charles III (of England, the VIII of Scotland) and H.R.H. the Queen Consort, Camilla. Not only are they mourning the death of a beloved mother and friend, but also this means a tremendous change to their lives that is now taking place. As the Second Elizabethan Age ends, maybe we will see a new, Carolean (?) Age come upon us. I am sure in Charles III we shall see a most capable and dedicated monarch, and one hopes that along with all that he will remain his own man as much as his new role permits. |
