Seriously Jorge... When was the last time you updated the forum software?
You can't just install something online and let faith keep it safe... (Unless you know a good webmaster named Faith ofcourse...)

Seriously Jorge... When was the last time you updated the forum software? You can't just install something online and let faith keep it safe... (Unless you know a good webmaster named Faith ofcourse...)

I'm always on top of it, as you can see. Unfortunately there is no 100% fool proof way of keeping the spammers permanently away. |

I've set up a few forums over the years using simple machines (http://www.simplemachines.org/), they've all been pretty much spam free. Even though it may be a hassle setting it up, perhaps it's something to consider? |

Spam hasn't been much of a problem lately (except for the outbursts you saw today, but, in case you didn't notice, all of it came from the same account). The problem is not so much the technology behind a forum, but rather how 'popular' a forum is (the higher up in Google rank a forum is, the more spam it attracts). These days spammers even resort to low paid humans in 3rd world countries to bypass visual captchas, so there isn't much you can do to protect a forum from spammers other than always be on the lookout, react quickly, and ban the domains that allow themselves to be a source of spam. |
