How do I replace a corrupted hibernation file on my laptop? I'm running Windows XP on an IBM Thinkpad laptop. A couple of months ago, I started my computer up from its hibernation state and an error message saying that the hibernation file was corrupted, and had to be deleted. It is now deleted, but my laptop no longer supports hibernation and standby. It is a school-issued laptop, so I don't have the Windows XP CD. Does anybody know where I can download a new hibernation file?

you should be able to disable hibernation, delete the file if it is still there(disabling hibernation should of deleted the file), re-enable hibernation and it should recreate the file. if this does not work i personally would head over to sevenforums. good luck

Most of the PC retailers(Dell, Gateway) disable hibernation completely. It's been problematic from the get-go. Use sleep mode instead. There are a number of tweaking programs that will offer the option of disabling hibernation. The one I used was "Ultimate Windows Tweaker"(look under 'additional tweaks' menu) from "The Windows Club".

Should do the trick,
Grouch
