Our thoughts and prayers go to all those affected. Reports of casualties are starting to slowly trickle in, but, having seen the video footage, I suspect thousands of people have died. :(

The whole Pacific is on alert, as it is reported that the Tsunami waves (still spreading) are higher than some Pacific islands.

I was afraid of something like this happening as I went to bed. Woke up just as they were breaking the news.

We already have a human catastrophe in Japan, but if what happened in Chernobyl happens there too, a 30 Km (19 miles) area around the reactor will have to be evacutated and will remain inhabitable for several years. This would be like nothing we have ever seen in an island the size of Japan, with over 127 million people crammed into it being exposed to the effects of nuclear fallout (not to mention that the nuclear reactor is right by the seaboard, and Japan is really close to mainland China and Russia).

Being a major economical power, the repercussions of such an event would be tremendous all over the world. This is trully becoming a disaster of biblical proportions.

Let's pray for the best.

This was my very thought last night as I sat and watched the BBC news channel.
surely some physical connection with the recent events in Australia and New Zealand.

Until today, I had never given a lot of thought to the fact that we have an ageing nuclear power plant less than 10 miles away.

I come across this link a while back, check it outhttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/8273050/George-Lucas-says-world-will-end-in-2012.html

By the way, I don't believe George Lucas is right.
