I'm running the trial of stardock's WindowFX 4. Visual effects are running well, and I like them a lot more than the default windows's ones. Although, I'm having a very big problem: standalone stacks will not work well when WindowFX is running. it opens the stacks and I can run the applications/folders, but after closing the stacks the application won't terminate; and I can't run again any stack until I manually close the application via task manager.

I'd like to buy WindowFX, but not if it will cause me those problems. The major problem here is that there's no way to say WindowFX to ignore an application (there is no exceptions setting) and I actually need stacks more than anything else as they've simplified my life.

This is why I ask you if you know any other software that could make some nice visual effects like WindowFX, or if there is any other program that can make stacks like standalone stacks does.
I searched for some time, and I couldn't find anything*. But maybe someone of you knows a "lost on the web" application that may help me.
*I only found 7Stacks, it makes nice stacks using aero, but it's not as good looking as standalone stacks.

Please, let me know of any software that could help me. Thanks ;)

That seems to be a problem with WindowFx itself. Have you thought about reporting that issue to them?

As you know, native Winstep Stacks are high on the to-do list (which would make this a mute problem) but I can't tell you for sure when that feature will be added.

Yes, yes, I know that you're going to add this feature Jorge; but I also know we need the theme editor and maybe something else before them. So take it easy and when it will be time for adding stacks to Nexus you'll add them. Just don't start adding them now because with the lot of work you have, you would probably go crazy when something doesn't work and development would slow down. Don't worry, I can wait for that :)

Yes, I thought it could be a good idea to tell stardock about this bug. I know exactly that the problem is the closing animation: as long as the stacks their-self are a window after all, WindowFX will try to apply the close animation. But as long as the window is not a regular window (it doesn't use borders and other WindowFrame objects) WindowFX can't continue with the animation, and the process cannot be freed, and won't be closed. In fact, if I disable the closing animation effect in WindowFX, stacks work fine.

I'll report this issue to Stardock, I hope they can add an exception feature.

The bug was reported to stardock, but since is not the Winstep support, I can't expect an answer within today... well anyway, so doesn't anyone of you know a similar software?
I think then that WindowFX is going to burn, and standalone stacks will keep on stacking together with Nexus :)

7stacks, it's free and awesome. You can try it.

If you are on WFx4.0, the version 5.0 is now available you can check that also. Nimi Visuals is another tiny application that offers few effects..but I don't like it for its intricate interface.
