How about having a textbox with some brief information about the current translation below the language-dropdown?

Would be useful to display some info about the used language file.

For example:

Quote:
NeXuS Swedish Languagefile version 0.9
by Mikael Kaivo-oja

If you find any issues with this translation please contact:

Yaddda yadda
whatever
wherever

That way people know where to direct their whining if there are issues :P
Should be easy enough to implement by allowing the info to be edited in the translation UI? :)

The person to contact is always me (imagine the translation author changed email addresses, no longer cares, etc..., the user would contact him and I would never know about the problem). This way I can coordinate with other translators.

As for translation credits I'm thinking about adding a 'Credits' page to the Winstep web site.

Could add a oneliner for version information atleast?

"Swedish Language version 0.5" for example. It would help out alot if languagefile is updated and someone has old issues.

I'm doing one better, which is changing the Winstep update manager to warn about/download updates to language files.

Still thinking about the best way to accomplish that, though. So many things to do!!!

You've got mail, by the way...

The best thing would be if translators could upload updates themself. But I suppose you want to be some sort of quality control, even if you don't understand the languages. :)
