I'm having problems when I move windows around, sometimes controls (such as sliders, scroll bars) etc, are visible on the window below. This can happen with any windows. For example, if I open a window with scroll bars on it, then open another window in front of that one, the scrolls sometimes appear visible through the front window. This goes away immediately after I close Nexus. Any idea if there's a setting that might be causing this? or what the problem might be?

-- Update --

No longer having problems with overlays but with random crashes when altering dock preferences etc. Particularly when enabling/disabling the docks but also with the other options.

Never heard of this, sorry. The way you are describing it sounds like z-order problems. Might be related to Nexus using 'overlay' windows, but in that case you would have the same problems with any other application of the type, since they all use overlays (layered windows).

Are you using any other Windows customization program such as WindowBlinds?

I'm using Fences from Stardock. This is not such a big problem anyway. One problem I am having is with Nexus crashing after installing. It installs fine, then I go into preferences and remove one of the two default docks, upon clicking apply Nexus crashes. This has happened on two separate Windows 7 x64 installs, both on the same PC.

-- EDIT---

On further use Nexus seems to be crashing when altering various dock-related options. This is a pretty fresh install of Windows. I don't even have fences installed and the problems persist.

Zombi, can you please provide a detailed list of actions that are causing Nexus to crash? See if I can reproduce that here.

Also, are you running the latest release (v11.6)?

Of course.

1) Start Nexus
2) Go into preferences
3) Click the tick boxes to disable/enable docks
4) Click Apply
5) Crash

I can also do it by altering various settings for a dock, often not changing the settings that causes the crash, but clicking 'Apply', although it can happen either way. It's always done this. Whether 32bit or 64bit Windows 7.

Nexus version is: 11.6

And like I say it's done it over various installs of windows, all Windows 7 though.

Is there a way I could provide you with debug information or something?

I can also provide videos of my causing a crash if required.

I just tried it here (clicking on the Enable/Disable dock), on a Windows 7 x64 system and all it happened is that the disabled dock 'disappeared', as it was supposed to.

Furthermore, to enable/disable a dock you don't need to click 'Apply', the dock should appear/disappear a second or so after clicking the check box.

Perhaps a screenshot of your desktop (with Preferences open in the Docks & Shelves tab) might bring some light into this?

Here's a video of the error.
The first few seconds of the video the colour is off, but it remedies itself.
Also the recorder I was using doesn't pick up the actual dock, but it's there.

Tried it again here with Nexus Ultimate, even getting to Preferences by clicking the Nexus system tray icon, and still no dice.

Could be something on your dock, though, but, if it is, I can't see it.

You really need another screen recorder, ehehe. Give the 'BSR Screen Recorder 5' a try, it has a trial period and it's pretty cheap for all it does.

Hmmm, something else I just noticed. Do you still get the crash if the dock is docked at the top of the screen?

If you skip into the video it looks fine, it's only the first 20 seconds or so.

It crashed the moment I switched it to dock at the top. I started Nexus again and it still crashes when I enable/disable it.

Looks fine but you can't see the dock or the Shelf (i.e.; your video capture software can't record layered windows).

How about a simple screenshot of your desktop then, please?

Here's a video recorded with BSR showing the actual crash:

Ok, hold on, managed to reproduce a crash, but it has to do with the Shelf being disabled and *then* changing where it's docked. I'll let you know more once I find out more.

bb flashback is also another great program. it is what i have been using for capturing my desktop. unlike say camtasia which focuses in on where you have your mouse, bb stays focused on the entire desktop.
