I just noticed today that when I hover over the cpu meter I'm no longer
being told what program is generating a high usage. I just get the
amount of cpu usage.

Then when I bring up the "Most Active Programs" list I get an empty
window. Can't figure out just yet what changes in the system could
cause this.

Using latest Xtreme on WinXP Pro.

Did you change anything lately? Have you tried rebooting?

Sorry for the response delay.

I haven't yet figured out what happened but I'm still getting nothing
regarding processes. The balloon only shows cpu usage percentage
but no particular process and the Most Active list is still empty.
Maybe something has been disabled like a certain service that would
be needed? I don't know.

I haven't done any major changes to the system. Closest thing
was upgrading the Zone Alarm suite from 6.5 to 7 (big mistake for
this laptop) and reverting back to 6.5. Otherwise any tweaks have been
minor.

I'll go through my tweaking utilities and see if I did something
I shouldn't have.

Well, the CPU Meter works again but I can't say why.

I installed avast! Antivirus then rebooted, got BSOD, restarted laptop
and then the meter was back to showing processes in both the balloon
and Most Active Programs list.

Don't know what the cause or the fix was but oh well.

Do you know that joke about the 3 guys who get into a car and the car doesn't start?

The first one, who is a mechanic, says 'must be something in the distribution chain'

The second one, who is an electricist, says 'Nah! I bet it is something with the alternator'.

The third one, who is a computer expert, says 'why don't we just get out of the car and get back in again?'
