How can I remove a dock entry (besides right click and remove entry)? Can I remove it by dragging and dropping it off the dock?

No, because Nexus supports true drag & drop. If you drag a shortcut to a file off the dock and into the desktop, you are actually creating a Windows shortcut to that same file in the Windows Desktop. Likewise when dropping files from the dock into an Explorer folder.

Likewise, you can drag and drop items between docks, shelves, grid stacks, drawers, etc... So no, the normal 'drag off the dock to delete' is not appropriate here.

Just add - if you don't have it already - a recycle bin module to the dock and drag any item in the dock you want to delete into it.

Ok thanks. It'd be nice if you can drag and drop off using a keyboard key combination. For example, when holding down CTRL (or some other) key if you drag and drop off the dock then the dock item is trashed.

No can do. As with normal Windows drag & drop operations, SHIFT enforces move, CTRL enforces copy (and right click drag pops up a context menu). Again, remember you can drag & drop items between multiple docks (etc) in the paid versions. Oh and ALT is used when you want to move/reposition the whole dock instead of initiating a drag & drop operation on a single icon, so that can't be used either. :)
