Should this method work on windows 11? Either the shelf or shortcut method makes the nexus ultimate to crash. I'm on windows 11 22000.978

Before crashing I get this error:

Then after I start Nexus Ultimate again I see a blank icon of that UWP app, and when I launch it I get this error:

Another problem (non UWP apps) is that drag and drop shortcuts to the dock doesn't work. When I drop the shortcut nothing is happen, like I never did that action.

I had to add all the shortcuts manually via "Insert New dock item" action.

:Moderator's note - topic split off as post was made into an old thread more than a year old - nexter:

I have no problem dropping UWP apps into the Winstep application under Windows 11.

The fact that you can't drop regular applications either shows something is very wrong in your system, and is specific to it.

Also, Nexus Ultimate should have a Apps tab in the shelf (tabbed shelf) by default (or you can add one if it isn't there). This tab should show all installed UWP apps in your system. Does it?

Yes, the shelf has the Apps tab, but I'd like to disable shelf and use the dock only. And when I drag the UWP app from the shelf to the dock - what I described above happens.

Unfortunately I am really at a loss as to what might be happening there.

What anti-virus software are you running? Have you already tried temporarily disabling it to see what happens? Perhaps it's interfering with the drag & drop operations...?

Also, open Preferences, go to Advanced tab, click Troubleshooting Options, make a Backup of your settings, then click the 'Check integrity of Docks and Shelves' button.

I'm running the Win 11 default virus and threat protection.
I've tried to turn it off temporarily with no result.
Integrity check says there are no errors.
Also resetting everything to default didn't help.

I have to say, that after install the app language wasn't set to English. It was like this:

Look, I'm not sure what is going on in there, but that is all... how to say... completely broken?!

Even the UI colors are off, for Windows 11 Nexus Ultimate should have chosen the 'Dark Mode (Gray)' option, since 'Dark Mode (Black)' is default for Windows 10.

As for the language, the Winstep application will default to whatever is your system language (system locale) as given by the GetSystemDefaultLangID() API call. And if it doesn't have that language, it will default to English.

Make a backup of your settings to a folder completely outside the Winstep folder structure, then try uninstalling Nexus Ultimate. When it asks you if you want to remove your settings, say yes.

Once that is done, re-install Nexus Ultimate and let me know what the default looks like. You can then restore the settings you previously backed up.

This time language is correct, default theme is the same.
Everything else - no luck, crashing and still unable to drag and drop shortcuts. May I ask, is it working for you on the latest win 11 update?

I'm running 21H2 here, just like you.

Haven't upgraded to 22H2 yet, I decided to wait a bit for any issues to come to light first and good thing I did, since Microsoft put a hold on the update. 2H22 is apparently buggy as hell, and this whole fiasco is what happens when you fire your whole QA department.

Anyway, no complaints yet from other Windows 11 users. Whatever is happening there, it looks like it's specific to that system.

Just to clarify for him, specific to the OP's system, surely.
