I upgraded my Windows 10 Pro machine to Windows 11 Pro. The tray on Windows 11 has the 5 or 6 items I selected through Windows "Other system tray icons" settings but Nexus Ultimate lost them (they worked fine on Nexus Ultimate on Windows 10). It looks like the icons I didn't select "on" appear in the sub-window when I click on the little blue ball on the tray. How do I get the icons back on the Nexus tray? Thanks,

As explained in the Tray tab of Nexus Preferences, starting with Windows 11 23H2 Microsoft switched the system tray to XAML Islands, breaking the methods Win32 applications such as Nexus used to retrieve tray icons.

Nexus therefore displays functionally equivalent replacements for the Network, Volume and Battery icons, while other tray icons remain accessible through the Windows tray overflow popup by clicking the blue system tray control icon.

To access those application icons through Nexus, turn them **off** under Windows “Other system tray icons” settings. This moves them into the overflow popup. Icons set to **on** remain permanently visible in the Windows taskbar, where Nexus can no longer access them.

TL;DR: You should have stayed on Windows 10.

Thanks, Jorge. I was having print issues and software on my machine being updated was giving me a bit of trouble, along with the fact I had to reboot ever week or so to fix one thing or another. So, after several years of Windows 11 I figured they had it stabilized. Being Microsoft, I guess I shouldn't have thought that.

It's amazing how all newer technology requires one more click, one more tap, one more sub-menu, one more popup, and one more whatever. Trying to get rid of a spam phone call on my Android is mind-numbingly dumb. Icons on today's software are obtuse. What good's the tray if I can't put stuff on it and see what's running. Well, at least I can find out what stuff is running. Sigh... As always, your help is much appreciated.

Anyway, this is too bad since I have been using the tray for many years.

And you can still use the tray, just put all the application tray icons in the tray overflow area/popup - you can still access that area as normal.
