How to embed YouTube videos in forum messages

There are two ways to display Youtube videos on your post. The simpler one is via the Youtube tag, which will always display the video at 700x418 but allows full screen videos, the second is via the Flash tag, which allows you to specify the height and width of the video but does not allow full screen.

To display a YouTube video in your post using the Youtube tag, use the following:

[youtube]video id[/youtube]

For instance:

Code:

[youtube]2RL-5tarEEo[/youtube]

'video id' is the sequence of characters after the 'v=' in the Youtube video URL, e.g.;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RL-5tarEEo

To display a YouTube video in your post using the Flash tag, use the following:

[flash=width,height]http://url[/flash]

For instance:

Code:

[flash=640,385]http://www.youtube.com/v/2RL-5tarEEo[/flash]

Note that the normal YouTube URL for a video is in the format

Code:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RL-5tarEEo

You'll need to replace '/watch?v=' with '/v/'.

Access to the Beta Software Discussion forum

Access to the Beta Software Discussion forum allows you, among other things, to try out private beta releases before they are made available to the public. If you like being on the cutting edge, this is the place to be!

1 - Register with the forum if you haven't done so already.
2 - Make sure you are logged in.
3 - Click on PROFILE at the top left of the board to access your User Profile page.
4 - Click on Usergroups in the Options panel at the left.
5 - Select the 'Registered Winstep Users' usergroup by checking the associated checkbox.
6 - Make sure 'Join Selected' is selected in the combo box and click on the 'Submit' button.
7 - Wait for a confirmation email. Users are manually accepted into this group, so be patient because this might take some time.
8 - Once you receive an email confirming your acceptance into the Registered Winstep Users group, you are free to access the Beta Software Discussion forum.

VERY IMPORTANT: If you signed up to these forums using a different email address than the one used to register your Winstep software, please also send a private message to the board administrator (Winstep) with the name and/or email address used on purchase.

Failure to do so will result in your request to access the Beta Forums being rejected without confirmation.

I requested access to the Beta Users group. I have done everything according to your rules to get access. I was just wondering.

How much Time are we talking about? I signed up or requested on April 3 and it has been 7 days. Does that mean I am Banned from that users Group?

Same thing as 3flash (from 3.5 years ago!)
I submitted a request as per the instructions, well over a week ago, and am still waiting to hear back!

You're in, too. Apologies for the delay, but there are currently no private betas waiting for you there.

There will be one soon, though.

Just please don't ask me when it will be implemented - I don't know, it will happen when focus is given to adding a ton of new modules, all at the same time.
