Running Application Indicator

I am running Nexus v11.6 on a Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit workstation. I placed an icon for Outlook 2010 on the dock. The icon launches the application correctly but no running application indicator appears under the icon. All of the other applications that I have put on the dock show the icon as they should. I have Office 2010 installed to the default location. All applicable Windows and Office updates are installed. Any ideas why the dock isn't picking up that Outlook is running?

Does it Outlook show correctly in windows's taskbar?
Have you checked that it isn't in your Task Exclusion list?

I just figured out how to make it show the running indicator but I'm not sure why it works.

The path to the Outlook shortcut in the dock was...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\OUTLOOK.EXE

I changed it to the 8.3 version...
C:\PROGRA~2\MICROS~2\Office14\OUTLOOK.EXE

Now it works. Strange.
