Jorge,

Why does the sub-dock hide behind the dock when I have the magnify option turned on? When I mouseover the icon, the sub-dock bashfully hides behind the parent (I used to be the same way). z-level? See below:

Z-Order problems are a pain in the royal behind to get right. Ask any developer. :)

Anyway, what is the parent dock's z-order set to (Dock Properties -> Position tab)?

Are you sure you're running v12.2? There used to be a similar problem but it was solved by making the window of the parent dock the owner of the sub-dock window. I can't reproduce that here, for instance.

Also, did you do a 'Show Desktop' before taking that screenshot?

Yes, of course I'm running 12.2.

No, I've never used "Show Desktop". I was on the Desktop.

Thanks,
Grouch

<edit>
I see, when I'm in an app, the sub-dock behaves as I would expect it to. When I'm on the desktop is when it misbehaves.

Jorge,

Problem resolved. Thanks. Looking good!

Thanks,
Grouch

Oops! I spoke too soon. It still behaves badly. It worked once, but returned to its evil ways.

Jorge,

Maybe this will give you a clue. If I exit an app and I'm at the desktop, if I click on the sub-dock's icon, the sub-dock will extend down in front of the parent dock (as expected). But, if I click on the desktop first, the sub-dock will extend behind the parent dock. I assume that would be sort of like using your "Show Desktop" command.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,
Grouch
