Hi,
I searched the forum for "close group" and "tile Vertical" and haven't found what I'm looking for.

In standard Windows XP, if I have the tasks grouped I can right-click the group icon in the taskbar and choose "Close Group" and all the windows in that group will close.

I could also right-click on an empty space in the task bar and select Tile vertical or Tile Horizontal and all the open windows would tile accordingly.

I used these features a lot, but can't find anything comparable in NextStart.

Are these features available and I just don't know how to use them?

Also I noticed that when I choose the START menu and QUIT the LOG OUT feature was a real LOG OUT, with no standard windows option to SWITCH USERS. I found using the key combination of Windows+L will allow me to do this.
Haven't found a Windows+ key combination to accomplish this.

Perhaps they are Skin specific? I'm using "Halo" skin.

Thanks.

Here's a screenshot of the tiling options I'm asking about:

Under NextSTART the default right click action on a task button is to minimize the associated window. CTRL+Right click will give you the menu you want, from where you can 'Close, Minimize and Restore Similar'. If the 'Open Group on Mouseover' option in Preferences is selected, Mousing over a 'grouped tasks' button will open a menu showing all the grouped tasks - just CTRL+Right click one of the tasks in the menu to access the menu from where you can close all windows at once.

Still, you are right - Middle, Right and CTRL+Right clicking a 'grouped tasks' button SHOULD perform the associated actions on all the grouped tasks (I say 'associated actions' because, as you probably know, you are able to specify, in the Mouse Settings section of Global Preferences, which mouse button does what on the tasklist).

I'll correct this 'shortsightedness' in the next release.

Ah, noted. I don't ever use those two options and nobody ever asked for them, so they're simply missing. Again, I'll add those options to the startbar's context menu in the next release.

Funny you mention this - Vectornut (Paul) just asked for this a couple of days ago, so I added a new Internal Command that allows you to do just this (and which will appear from now on in the Quit sub-menu, together with the Shutdown and Log Out options).

In the mean time, this is what you can do:

1 - Open the main NextSTART menu and then the Quit sub-menu.

2 - Right click on the place you want to insert 'Switch User' and select 'Insert' from the context menu. You should get the Properties Editor panel.

3 - In Label type: Switch User

4 - In Filename type: c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe

5 - Click on the Properties button

6 - In Arguments type: user32,LockWorkStation

7 - Press Ok once and then again to close the Properties Editor panel. You should now have a new item in your Quit sub-menu called 'Switch User' which will allow you to switch users at will.

Toolbars would be nice<g>. Windows Media Player for example. As there is more things for the MSoft start bar it seems like you need to add all the extra things too. Not sure how accessible MSoft makes those though.

I won't jump ship without it. I'ld rather use Extreme as is in beta than go backwards.

Not really... don't forget that you can drag a toolbar out of the Windows taskbar and onto the desktop.

Plus you can drag (or should be able to) stuff from the toolbar(s) into the NextSTART Quick Launch area.
