I made two dock entries for the following two Internal Commands:
Backup WorkShelf Settings
Restore WorkShelf Settings

When used, both open the proper (backup/restore window). However, as soon as I use my mouse to select a backupfilename from the list or click in the entry "File name:", the (backup/restore) window is closed (and nothing happens).

The only way it works is if I use my keyboard (the entry "File name:" is selected when the window opens and I have to type the right backup file name in it).

It's a bit irritating, because I am used to selecting a file with my mouse.

I just tested it here and I don't see a problem. The devil must be in the details, therefore.

1. What version of Winstep Xtreme are you using?

2. What Windows version? 32 bit or 64 bit?

3. Is the IC placed in a dock or a sub-dock?

4. Any chance of a screenshot displaying the panel that opens when you click on Backup WorkShelf Settings?

I am using the latest version 12.2 of Winstep Xtreme on Windows 7 64-bit.
The IC is placed on a sub-dock.

I now also tried to place the IC on a dock, which works perfect. It just does not work on a sub-dock.
Concerning the backup window, they are the same in both cases and both highlight the filename at "File name".
