Hi guys

This has happened to me before and it drives me nuts!! I really hope you can help!!

I make a change to one of the NextStart menu entries (in this case I change the title of one of my menu entries from System to System Tools) and then it all goes pear-shaped! It doesn't do this when adding an item to a menu.

The style of the pop-up menus reverts to some godawful theme and many of my custom menu items disappear to be replaced by whatever is within:

C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs...

No problem I think, I'll restore a backup (using the restore/backup functionality within NextStart) but nothing changes.

I then replace the current Winstep folder that's in Public Documents with one from my own (2-hourly) backups but still it's the same!!

I end up doing a complete image restore of my C Drive which seems crazy to me but at least that works!

Am I missing the blindingly obvious here?!

As there has been no response I presume no one else has encountered this before BUT I think I know what the problem was as I've now solved the issue...

Icons!

I use quite a few custom icons within my NextStart Start Menu but, a couple of months ago I changed the location of my icons folder. All the time I hadn't altered anything for a Start Menu folder with a custom icon (e.g. changed the name of the folder), the NextStart system was happy as I presume it has its own icon cache(?) but when I renamed a folder it was unable to locate the icon which threw it into a state of confusion and corrupted! I've now gone through my Start Menu and remapped the paths to each icon.

Anyway, that's my theory but do say if you reckon this is not the likely cause.

Hope this might be of help to anyone else that may encounter a similar issue in the future.
