Thanks for replying. At least something good came out of it. This is my last grasp at the straw.

This time I've included a video. I'll explain what you'll see.

I opened two notepad instances to not only help demonstrate the issue, but strategically placed them for privacy reasons over part of my folder path and folder names on the left. I use the program QTTabBar, so that's why the folder tabs look the way they do. I uninstalled it just to make sure it wasn't the culprit along with a few other programs, but nothing changed so I reinstalled them.

I've ran a multitude of utility programs to find everything from viruses to rootkits, registry fixes and even ran the Windows utility that finds and repairs bad sectors and files etc. NADA! No malware found. Issue is still there. The one good thing that came from it is that my PC does run faster after all of that. I might post the programs that helped in the Off Topic forum.

Now, for the walk-through of the video. My corner bumps are set up to open folders. To begin with, I bottom left corner bumped, then top left corner, top right corner, right side bump (which should activate my modules), all of which nothing happened.

Then you will see the weird part that I've been addressing. The bottom right corner bump steals focus and ghosts whatever is on the screen. Strange!! What could cause this to happen?

Is there something wrong in my registry that's causing this focus problem? I've checked extensively to find fixes for focus problems but nothing has worked.

Like I said in the beginning, if it can't be resolved this time, I won't bother you with it again. I don't want to leave any stone unturned before giving up! :)

Oh BTW, I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I can't update Windows 7 anymore. It has a ton of updates in the queue, but the option to download them isn't there. It however conveniently keeps prompting me to update to Windows 10!

EDIT: The direct link to the video I posted to avoid extra clicking no longer works so I deleted it and left only the link given to me by the site. I had to use this site because the file is a little too large for the Winstep site upload.

After clicking on the link, it might take a few seconds for the next link to appear which reads: Proceed to File Download Page. You will then see the name of the file and another link that reads: Click here to download your file. After clicking on that link, it should give the usual option to DL or open the video.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I'm doing a happy dance!!! I finally got the awesome Winstep Xtreme to work again!!

Thanks Jorge! Whatever you did, the new Beta you posted fixed the problem!

However, there are three issues that need to be resolved, one of which should be simple regarding the size of the modules.

I still get the WorkShelf message that it's incompatible if I restart Xtreme, (but starts in spite of the notification) and also the ghosting/disappearing of whatever programs are on the screen as is shown in the video if I bottom right corner bump.

As far as the modules, they are much larger than before. My DPI is set to 125%. I'm assuming that's the reason they got larger and that is the way it's supposed to function.

My question is, should I use the scale feature on the modules to reduce them? Or should I change the DPI to 100% and then switch it back to 125% to see if it stays at the preferred size?

I want to make sure I use the correct and best procedure.

Please let me know if changing the DPI back and forth can potentially create an issue.

The ultra happy dance is now in full force! Jorge, I'm finally happy to report that I solved the issue of the ghosting/disappearing of whatever is showing on the screen when I bottom right corner bump. My perseverance paid off! Once I get the feeling that something can be solved and it's just one element that is attainable, I don't give up easily!

This is how it happened. I kept wondering why only the bottom right corner bump was causing the issue. I went into the NextSTART Hotspot settings and unchecked the box that activates that Hotspot. I tried it and it still did it.

I then exited Xtreme and it still did it. That's when I said hmmmmmmmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with Winstep. Or, is it something related to a Windows 8 or 10 feature that somehow ended up on my PC via the Winstep update when the issue arose?

While Xtreme was exited, I kept playing around with the bump. I then noticed something in the corner. It reads: Show desktop. I kept playing around until I noticed something else.

In the bottom right corner, there is a little area that is barely noticeable. That is where Show desktop is.

I noticed another entry when I decided to right-click that area and saw something that reads: Peek at desktop. I was not familiar with that. I decided to uncheck it to see what happens, and to my surprise...I finally found the culprit! After unchecking it, the problem is gone!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

So now all that's left is the issue of the incompatibility notification displaying on startup and restart after exiting, and the module thing related to the DPI which I'll repost here so you won't have to go back to my previous post to read it.

Jorge, I noticed that if I exit (via control icon on dock) Winstep Xtreme and restart I get the notification.

However, if I exit WorkShelf, and then restart Xtreme, the notification doesn't display. :?

While I am happy that things are working again for you, I did not do anything to the hotspots code in the new release, other than fixing that issue reported in the 'v15.9 issues' thread with hotspots not automatically activating on startup.

I was kind of waiting for someone else to point that out to you, since it's one of those moments that makes you slap your own forehead. As you noticed, it has nothing to do with Winstep but with Windows itself.

You really have to start paying attention to release notes, etc, lol

Please read point # 3 in the first post of THIS TOPIC.

All you need to do is open WorkShelf Preferences, go to the Modules tab and select 'Disable module scaling on high DPI settings' at the bottom.

As for the 'WorkShelf is not running' notification, I already told you why that is happening. You have an auto-run hotspot in NextSTART set to run a WorkShelf internal command at startup. Find it and disable it.

Thanks for the info! I didn't read the release notes, and didn't pick up on what you just stated about disabling the auto-run setting for the internal command. After changing the above settings I restarted my PC and everything is running perfectly!! :D

BTW, since you said you didn't change anything regarding hotspots, I'm wondering if my anti-virus and/or firewall was blocking something which caused my bump settings to not work after updating/installing the new version. This time around I made sure I turned them off and exited Xtreme before installing the Beta.

I noticed after installing the Beta and re-enabling my anti-virus, nothing from Winstep worked. So I went in both my anti-virus and firewall and added them to the exception list.

Now armed with all of these new revelations, I can now update/install the new version and Beta on the other PC's of the people I had purchase Xtreme. Great program Jorge! Keep up the great work and we're all looking forward to new additions to Xtreme and other Winstep programs. :D
