As some of you know, Winstep just moved to a new server.

Previously this forum was hosted on an independent Linux server, separate from the one that hosted the main website. Following the move, the website and the forum are now hosted on the same server.

This was a pretty big move so we're still fixing all the little things that needed adjusting as we learn about them.

What I noticed recently was that the forum would force me to log-in again from time to time even though I had the 'Log me on automatically on each visit' setting enabled. I think this was due to a mismatch of the forum's old cookie settings with the current configuration, so I changed them to reflect the later.

If any of you had (or are still having) trouble logging in (or being logged out on every visit), please post a message here. If unable to post here, send an email message to the Winstep support address.

EDIT: Seems the new cookie settings were making it impossible for users to log in. Had to change them back to what they were.

EDIT2: Still having the problem of having to log-in again to the forums after a few hours even though 'Log me on automatically' is set.

When that setting is enabled, your log in settings should be valid for a year (i.e.; you should only be asked to log in again a year later).

On the new server, they only seem to be valid for a few hours, even though the 'expires' date is properly set to 1 year in the cookie itself.

Yup, just experienced being logged out, even though the "remember me" was ticked.

That will happen *once* to everybody for sure, because the name of the cookie had to be changed to fix the issue where it was actually impossible to stay logged in.

What you have to check is if you get logged out again from now on.
