When you have different open and close setting the open setting does not occur until you mouse over an icon. Just opening the shelf is not enough to trigger the change. It would be nice if it did the change no matter how the shelf was opened. Edge Bump mnaually clicking the open handle, or clicking a tab from the closed state should work.

The closed setting works as soon as the shelf is close either by time out or manually closing it. It's just open that has the problem.

How does this relate to "transparancy" settings?

Paul, what theme is that happening under? I just tried it here with Brisa (which has different indicators) and the shelf collapse/un-collapse symbols are changing as they should... Same with the older Ivory theme.

Or are you talking about something else?

I'm using Aero but it possible it could be something I changed. I think some of these problems are related to loaded / saved options.

The Aero theme always uses the same bitmap (a gray blob) for the the right mini-tab symbol, regardless of the shelf being collapsed or uncollapsed.

Well the question still remains.

It's not that it does not work it's that it does not work when it should. It's that the whole shelf is transparent when closed then when it's open it is less transparent. This is correct.

The change of transparency is as you say the whole shelf but I was asking why it does not change on the open event itself instead of waiting until you at least mouse over an icon inside the shelf or click on an icon. You can click between tabs and the shelf transparency is based on the closed setting not the open setting until you at least "touch" an icon.

I suppose in that way aero is a good theme to show it.
