I don’t want any sound effects for Nexus. Specifically when the launcher is activated, where I'm getting the rain storm sound effects. I have checked "Disable all Sounds", rebooted, checked the actual Registry is set to True, but the sound effects persist. I can’t seem to disable or change any of the sounds with the context menus or the Preferences dialogs. Restarting and rebooting has not helped either.

What am I missing. Please help. I have to work with my headset on, I love Nexus, but those sounds are making me crazy!

You say, "Launcher," but I don't know if you're referring to the Dock or NextSTART, both of which can launch programs.

My entire Winstep Extreme is silent. So, let's check these areas:

Hit CTRL-F12 and, if NextSTART's Preferences window appears, go to the Sounds & Animations tab and check Disable all Sound.



However, your cropped screenshot matches the Workshelf's Preferences window (CTRL-F11 is the shortcut for this). I noticed your Sound preferences are missing an option.



Specifically, "Prevent themes from changing your current sound scheme" is not on your screenshot. This makes me think you are using an older version.

Can you check to see what version you are on? The last normal release is 19.02, but my screeshot is from 20.04. You can get this version by going to the Advanced tab and turning on "Notify me of beta (test) versions," click Apply, and then click "Check for Updates."

Thanks for responding. I have upgraded, and rebooted windows. See my About screen below. I have checked both the boxes you suggested, but still when the Nexus Dock is activated the "Rain Storm" sounds play. I even checked the Registry settings for DisableAllSounds (Set True, see image below) which appear to match the "Disable all Sounds" setting checked in the dialog.

Your screenshots are from NextSTART. (In the large dark-grey header above the tabs, you can see giant lighter-grey letters spelling "NextSTART".)

The keyboard shortcut for NextSTART's Preferences is CTRL-F12.

If you use CTRL-F11, you'll get WorkShelf's Preferences window instead. Look at my second screenshot in my previous post. Can you double-check there?

If CTRL-F11 doesn't work for you (you might have changed it), you can right-click the Dock (either an empty part of the dock or on the Nexus icon if it's still on the Dock) and choose "Preferences".

Thanks for pointing that out, I got it solved!. I thought that was a global dialog for all the utilities. I activated the Nexus Dock and went to Dock Properties, then "Effects" tab. Unchecked "Enable raindrop effect (random animated water ripple with audio)". That did the trick. Thanks for your help!

If you like the animation but want to get rid of the sound, you can check that box again and then click "Water Ripple Settings" button and turn off the two audio options at the bottom of that window.
