When I click on a shelf, it takes about 5 secs. to pop up. This is significantly longer than previous versions. I have version 7.4. The activation delay is set to minimum delay. I have 2 GB of RAM. After the initial activation, subsequent activations (within a reasonable period of time) occur faster.

Any thoughts??

The very first time you open a particular shelf, icons in it must be retrieved from disk, that is why it might take a bit longer. After that icons are cached in memory and opening that same shelf is much, much, faster.
