Great! Thanks for letting me know... doesn't exactly fix the problem but is a nice work-around.

I turned off my TV last night and when I turned it back on, the task list was blank. Pressing the Reset Reserved Screen Space button didn't work. Rather than restart, I tried removing and adding the task list and that worked (although a restart is faster).

I should mention that the TV has a resolution of 1920x1080 but when I turn it off, the computer switches to a default 1024x768 resolution because it can't detect the monitor type when the TV is off. (HDMI cable connection.)

I still have the problem (I'm the original poster) but I just minimize the taskbar with the vertical bar on the right (I believe that's an option) then restore it. Two clicks.

It happens when the computer reboots or goes into sleep mode, or comes out of a game or when I use this little gadget to switch the monitor to my laptop and back.

The button doesn't work on a vertical taskbar. The taskbar just hides itself.

It does work if I click on it, but is there a way to make the "Reset Reserved Screen Space' internal command automatically run after a reboot or even after a change/refresh of monitor?

You are unfortunately wasting your time replying to a spam bot.

Yep. And not only that - yet another ChatGPT or other ML/LLM generated post. Alas, we'll be seeing a lot more of this kind of shite - it's even getting through on many large boards with all kinds of anti-spam protection. And even ordinary members have posted it, mods/admins tend to ban outright unless acknowledged by member.

Sorry, I had no idea that was a spambot. Is there any way to tell?

Not really, it's getting harder and harder even for us... Normally I use StopForumSpam to see if anyone else has reported that email address as a spam bot.

Ah but as ML/LLM apps like ChatGPT get more and more used to produce spam texts, this is usually fairly easy to spot. And if there's a genuine post that's used this without saying so, too bad...
