I am new to winstep, I am a Stardock user.
My Question is where do you get backgrounds and tiles to use in Wnstep extreme latest purchased version and how do you install them
Any Help would be greatly appreciated :D :D

Hi and welcome!

I am not 100% sure what you are asking...I am probably just reading it wrong.

Winstep Themes are typically all-inclusive, including: background/wallpaper, start bar skin, widgets, and Nexus graphics.

Of course it is very easy to replace the wallpaper...just like you normally would. It is also easy to switch the "theme" of a particular part of Winstep. For example, to change the theme of the clock widget, you right click and go down to Clock Widget theme and select one.

If you really want to make your own graphics in Winstep, you need to get into skinning, which is a whole different arena. I have not done that yet, as the skinners have come up with great stuff already :D :D

Hope that helps some.

What I am looking for is like in Object dock a staredock program that allows you to pick different backgronds for your dock which is like a shelf in Winstep. It allows you to use backgrounds or tiles. Right now in Dock theme I am using a background called taped. However it is the only. I am looking to add more back grounds and Tiles to the Dock Theme browser, so I can have greater selection than I now have.
Thanks. I know you cna create different looks for modules shelves and docks and Menu bar. I am using Winstep in conjuntion with various Stardock programs to load objects widgets and sidebar Gadgets to my desktop. If you go to www.Wincustomize.com and look under screen shots you will see mine listed under the name OldMsgt. My latest Desktop is called leather

Hi!

As you are already probably aware, there is a Winstep Themes Galleryright there at Wincustomize. From there you can download over 400 different Winstep native themes and backgrounds.

This said, the dock component of Winstep Xtreme (NeXuS) is also compatible with ObjectDock, RocketDock, MobyDock and YZ Dock backgrounds (an example is the Taped dock background you found in the NeXuS Dock Style Editor).

To install more ObjectDock backgrounds, just download them from Wincustomize. I think you already have experience installing ObjectDock skins; to 'import' these to Winstep Xtreme is essentially the same process, you just put them at a different location.

Open your My Documents folder, in there you should find a shortcut to the Winstep 'user data' folder. Double click the shortcut and navigate to NeXuS->Backgrounds. 'Backgrounds' is the folder where you should put your ObjectDock/MobyDock/RocketDock/YZ Dock theme folders.

Hope this helps,

Check out the email you received with the key - the URL to the tile pack is there. It's got it's own setup program too. :-)

And yes, C:L\Users\Public\Documents\Nexus\Backgrounds is right. :-)

I also fond out if you open and look at the Png files in stardock tile file you can add the Png file of your choice to a folder. Example I added gold disk png from a stardock Tabbed file to the classic folder and now you use it in the dock theme browser

Thanks I downloaded the pack just never saw it in the e-mail I also saved it so if I have to do a clean install

Jorge,
Has the tile pak been updated since it was first offered?
I finally decided to start fresh after all these years of dropping
updates/upgrades/betas on top of each other.

With the fresh install everything went to the new directory locations
but when I installed the tilepak it installed into the Winstep dir
and NeXuS didn't see any of the tiles. I had to move them manually
to the new location.
Not sure if it was just me or a result of the old install routines (the
archive is from 2006).

Marc

Ah cool.
Then I reckon I'll also need a link to the tilepak unless JTF's old
post/link includes that update.
