I have been using Nexus Ultimate for quite sometime without any problems. Since I have upgraded to Windows Anniversary Edition, the Nexus dock and shelf frequently disappear till I have to relaunch Nexus.

Also, when I try to seek/check updates, the program times out. My version is 16.06.

Now, seriously, I'm not aware of any problems of the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition with Winstep software, but then again I'm still on Windows 7 so I don't run it 24/7.

Can other people running the Anniversary Edition of Windows 10 and reading this please chime in, even if you see no problems?

Anyway, exactly what do you mean by 'disappear'? Is the Winstep application still running in Task Manager when that happens? Is there an error message? Is there a pattern to this happening?



That usually is a firewall problem. Is the weather module working? If it is, double the chances of this being due to you accidentally blocking WsUpdate.exe on your firewall.

The error is WsxMMTimer. A window opens with WsxMMTimer title with no other content.

And there is no firewall block for Nexus to access the update.

WsxMMTimer is the control window for the high resolution multimedia timer used for animations. I have *NEVER* heard of or seen anything like that happening.

Sincerely, I don't know what I can do to help you there, I have absolutely no idea why you are seeing that or what might be causing it.

Even though I do not use Windows 10 on a daily basis, I have the Anniversary edition installed on another PC and also on a couple of VMs here. The PC with Windows 10 has the latest release of Winstep software installed on it and the computer is on 24/7. Despite this, I have never seen the issue you describe. No one else has complained either.

The answer to your question specifically is: The weather module is not working.

So much so for an "Ultimate" tech support. I am going to try Stardock Objectdock.

Objectdock is not even supported in Windows 10.

That answer to that was important because the auto update functionality is provided by WsUpdate.exe, an application separate from Nexus Ultimate that, none-the-less, uses the same methods as Nexus Ultimate to communicate via the Internet.

If one was working but not the other, then chances are this would be a firewall blocking problem. Since BOTH are not working, then it might also be something else (or it might still be a firewall problem).



You're just being unreasonable. You have a problem that is obviously specific to your system. You don't see anyone else here running Windows 10 complaining, and you yourself had no issues until you installed the Anniversary update.

Could be anything, your AV solution interfering (did you already try temporarily turning it off?) or even a bad/corrupt install of Windows 10.

Since I don't have direct access to your PC, I don't see how you can realistically expect me to diagnose and fix your problem, as much as I would like to. There's a reason why I directed you to that topic (did you read it?), it explains things clearly.

Anyway, it's your decision. As Henk1956 wrote, ObjectDock currently offers no support for UWP apps in Windows 10 and hasn't been updated in over 2 years. Other than that, as far as I know, it works fine as a dock.

If you start noticing other things/applications not working properly on your system, my suggestion is for you to re-install Windows 10 from scratch.

For the record, I'm using Windows 10 latest update and Winstep Xtreme. I am not experiencing any issues like what's described above.

I gave up on ObjectDock a few years ago as the program languished. Take a look at their boards; it hasn't improved in at least two years.

I'm on Win 10 Anniv with latest Extreme. No problems with NeXus or weather.
