Hi out there,
out of the blue an odd problem with the recycler icon in nexus dock occurred on my computer. After I installed nexus dock (v.12.2) on my machine (WinXP SP3)it ran fine until a few days ago when opening the recycler didn't show me the usual (window with discarded contents) but my internal hd, and obviously in Internet Explorer at that.

This only happens when I have my pc hide my recycler because I don't want an extra icon on my desktop (I had it hidden through winoptimizer 2010, in case this is relevant). If I hide all desktop items (through adjusting my desktop via its properties, for example) the nexus recycler works fine but I don't want to hide all desktop icons. Like I said, it worked fine before.
Any ideas how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Hawkie

well right off the bat it sounds like a problem with winoptimizer and not nexus. if i were you i'd upgrade winoptimizer and see if that solves the problem. you can also rightclick on the recycler on nexus after you launch winoptimizer and make sure the properties read as follows.

item type: module
label: recycler
module: recycler
arguments:
start in:
hot key: none
run:

Hey ChuckysChild,
thanks for the speedy reply. Against all hope I did install the latest version of Winoptimizer but to no avail. I also tried another tuning program I sometimes use (XP tuner) to hide the recycler on the desktop - same problem. Here's why I don't think those progs are the problem, just my 2cts - I used RocketDock before nexus and returned to an earlier hd backup to see if anything changed. RocketDock still doesn't have the recycler problem whereas nexus dock has. It seems that in whatever way I try to hide the recycler (just the recycler, not all desktop items) the recycler is also "hidden" from nexusdock. Besides, I've had the recycler hidden for years (since I started using a docking prog, in this case Rocket Dock) and experienced no problems.
I'm totally out to lunch on this - any more ideas? Totally beats me, too, why the recycler is shown via IE.
Well, recycler or no recycler, have a very merry Xmas!
Hawkie

ok since you tried a different program i have to agree with you that it is something in nexus itself. i honestly wouldn't know where to start looking, hopefully someone else here has an idea.

Well, that probably has something to do with the way WinOptimizer hides the Recycle Bin icon - it probably changes something in the Windows Registry that causes the method used by Nexus to show the Recycler's contents to fail.

Try using the method described in the following web page instead:
