It may just be me but has anyone noticed that since Windows 10 Anniversary Update (or the subsequent accumulative updates) the Nexus Fast Boot does not seem to be working any more.

I have tried setting it and un-setting it and I can't get it to work.

I have manually created the registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce and it works fine (but just the once) and I also get a message about priviledges, but I can't get it to work automatically any more.

As far as I know the Fast Boot option is still working fine on the Windows 10 Anniversary update.

However, something else might explain what you are seeing: did you happen to disable the Winstep service? There will be no warning, but without it running nothing that requires elevated privileges (such as writing to HKLM) will work.

Open the Windows Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> Look for 'Winstep Xtreme Service' at the bottom. If it doesn't say 'Started' you need to change the Startup type to 'Automatic' and start it manually.

However, was it you that disabled the service manually in the first place (that would be my guess) or was it something Windows 10 did?

I am fairly sure it would have been me when I was trying to fine-tune my system a few weeks ago and not realised the impact this particular service would have had.
