Wanting to make a purchase but there is spam littered throughout these forums. There is a customer mentioning not receiving his serial key after contacting the owner from 2 different emails and no reply after a week.

I used ObjectDock and it has too many limitations, I love Fences by stardock but much prefer the offerings by Winstep Extreme. .

I hope the creator is well, I just don't know if it's now a safe purchase with these concerns. Does the software require online activation or can you install and activate it/register it offline should the site go down?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm in the same situation. Nice app, want to buy it, but the spam and lack of activity from the author (over 6 weeks now since his last post) is concerning. Hope the guy is all right.

Like many of us here, I'm a long-time supporter of Winstep. I appreciate Jorge's tenacity and follow-through in keeping this going. What gives me hope is that he still logs in to the forum. You can see this when viewing his profile:

But what dismays me is the lack of meaningful activity, such as not even cleaning up spam posts. I can only assume he is suffering an illness (physical, mental, emotional, etc.) that makes doing even mundane tasks difficult. Hopefully, someday soon, he will come back more energized and committed to doing his good work again.

Indeed, all seconded DD_Ric. And it may well be a hopeful sign that Jorge seems to be logging in at least. But it would be helpful if at least he could set up a few moderators so we could get rid of the jungle of spam, and a brief announcement to say he's unwell and will be back ASAP would be nice too and reassuring the punters.

Jorge did have a moderator back in the day: kutagh. Would be nice to see one again...

That said, even with an engaged moderator to clean up the boards, what's left is minimal, sporadic discussion between just a few users. That's unfortunate.

If it's any comfort, I have just renewed my subscription and the license key came through within seconds and has registered the software correctly.

Personally I use Nexus on my PC and laptop with no issues, so don't come to these forums more than once every few months. There just isn't any need really, though I appreciate that a lively forum community helps to keep software driving forwards. I can see how Nexus might be improved, but for my purposes it already does the job.

As I'm here I'll add a screenshot. Might as well. I only use docks, as I didn't find any efficiency benefits through using shelves. The docks and sub-docks and System Tray sidebar are invaluable though.

I can never make image uploads work here. The forum seems to reject even 1MB images. Hopefully you can see it here though: https://pasteall.org/pic/3fc44e7e04c04d33bf16c954dfd4ff63

Jorge cannot relistically expect customers to be loyal when he cannot at least acknowledge that there is a problem regarding spam with this site. I for one wont be renewing my licence subscription due to the fact that nobody seems to care except for a few loyal customers......

I don't use the forum's image uploading. Instead, I upload it to an external site (imgur.com, in my case) and then paste the image's URL and wrap it in img tags. Here, I'll demonstrate.

The following forum code will display an image:
Code:

In case it helps, I use ShareX. When I do a screenshot, I'm given a menu of "after" tasks (as in, "after the screenshot is captured...what do you want to do with it?"). This program is free and open source and can be found at: https://getsharex.com/

Here is the editor for my quick task list after a screenshot is taken:

The upload feature supports eight image hosting services and allows custom services, too.

Finally, the menu itself is optional. You can have it always perform a default set of actions and then, later, you can do other tasks to the few that might need additional action(s).
