 Post subject: Indicators showing up on closed apps

I've noticed over the past few days that certain apps on my Dock are showing indicators, but they are not open. I've tried going into task manager to double check they are closed, and this also happens on start up. Also, some of my applications aren't showing indicators when they're on. Anybody know what's up?

Which version of Windows?

(If you're not sure, you can click your Start button and just immediately type "winver" and it should pop up an About Windows window.)
