I received my WinStep Xtreme Registration and it says:

1) Open the Preferences Manager of either WorkShelf or NextSTART.

2) Click on the registration icon at the end of the icon ribbon. "?"

3) Press the 'Register' button on the panel. "?"

I'll be darned if I can find the "Register" button.

Probably because you placed the key in the Licenses folder and THEN run Winstep Xtreme, in which case the program automatically self-registers.

Check the About tab in Preferences: if it says 'This program is registered to...' you're done!
