Hello to all,

This issue has been plaguing me for maybe a year now, I thought it was the PC I was using it on as it's a few years old and not the best specs. However, I've freshly installed Nexus Dock on a new v-high end spec system with a fresh install of Windows 10 and I'm getting the same issue.

Almost every time I mouse over the dock it........ freezes for roughly 2-3 seconds. It seems like it's an idle thing as it doesn't do it if I've used the dock in the last few minutes.
If it's been a while then the dock activates but freezes completely for a few seconds.

Can anyone assist me with possible causes and/or fixes, any way to force the dock not to idle, or maybe some settings that are known to cause lag... etc?

If there's any details of specs that would help narrow it down, please let me know and I'll happily post them.

Thank you.

I would look at the shortcuts you have placed on the dock. Do any of them point to items on a network drive or even a hard drive set to spin down after a period of no activity?

You can also make a backup of your settings first (Preferences -> Advanced tab -> Backup) then reset to factory default (Preferences -> Advanced tab -> Troubleshooting Options -> Reset Everything) and run like that for a while to see if the problem goes away.

If it does, it is something content or setting related. If not, we would have to look further... either way you can then restore your previous settings via Preferences -> Advanced tab -> Restore

Hi @winstep, thank you for the assistance.

The system is full NVME SSDs, and not really any shortcuts like described, just a "My Computer" link.

Great idea, thank you. I'll back it up and wipe it to see if it persists.

I'll update if I figure out the cause.

Thanks, I am curious as well...

Could also be something (force) paging out the Winstep application to disk - but then again, with SSDs it should be basically unnoticeable.

Hey winstep, I have the same problem also, but i found out this problem happened when the pc/laptop (I'm using a laptop) is not shutdown or not restart for a longtime (starts about after running the computer for longer then 1 day) after i restart my computer the problem is solved, but will still gradually start to lag the next day if i didn't restart, and the lagging problem gets more serious over time, hope this info helps! (sorry for some sentence may be odd, not a native English speaker)

That is problem a symptom that something is leaking memory/handles in your PC over time. Eventually resources become scarce and everything slows down.

You can use the Windows Task Manager in the Details tab to try and figure out what exactly is happening - just make sure to add (by right clicking one of the headers and then 'Select columns') 'Commit Size' (total memory usage including swap file for that process), Handles, User Objects and GDI Objects.

Then sort each of the above columns from highest to lowest (by left clicking the relevant header) to see which processes are using the most memory, handles, etc...
