I've been happily using Winstep Xtreme for many years. My husband just bought his own copy, and got the registration Key by email. However, on trying to install it, it just keeps saying the key is corrupt. So as an experiment I used my own key to register his copy, and it worked perfectly. I removed my key, rebooted, removed everything from the "licences" folder and tried again with his key --- same result, "this key is corrupted etc".
I feel really frustrated (and so does he) that he cannot register his program. I really don't know what to try next. The key hasn't been altered in any way, I made sure of that, and the extension is still correct.
Is there no way to provide registration on the website or by email?? Other wise it looks like his copy may die after 30 days.

Amanda, remove everything from the Licenses folder, use your husband's license key to try and register the program. Once it has been rejected, open WorkShelf Preferences, go to the Advanced tab, click on Troubleshooting Options, then Troubleshooting License Key Issues button.

What does the dialog say?

Also, please send me a copy of your husband's license key to the Winstep email support address so I can have a look at it.

Today I followed all your instructions (having first removed all other license data as you said) and it came up with the same window telling me the key is correupted. I then did as you said and restored file associations, first, and tried again with the same result. Then I clicked on troubleshooting license key issues and it brought up a message saying "License Key is blacklisted (code 5)"
I have NO idea what that might mean or how it could happen, since my husband bought a legitimate copy from your own website.
Also, the key I used was the one you sent him in replacement for the first key (which he foolishly opened as a txt file and thus corrupted.) So the second key, that you sent, would surely be correct and not "blacklisted".
I really don't know what to do now.
I will send you the key to your email.

Took me some time but I figured out what happened. :D I'll reply to you via email to respect your privacy.

Hooray, I tried registration today with the new key that you sent by email (thank you) and it correctly registered my husband's program. :) :)
