Has anyone else had Chrome crash out with no warning and Nexus crash out at the same time?

I can't determine what exactly triggers this. It happens during YouTube viewing, sometimes when I am editing a Google Doc.

This use to happen frequently. Then it stopped. Now its happening again.

Note that Winstep Xtreme does not crash. JUST Nexus.

I can easily restart it without a problem as well.

Normally this type of simultaneous crash is caused by a 3rd‑party DLL injecting itself into multiple processes - but in this case it really does look GPU‑related.

One thing though: you say only Nexus crashes, but not Winstep Xtreme. If you’re running Winstep Xtreme, do you mean WorkShelf crashes but NextSTART does not, or is WorkShelf actually staying up as well?

Also, can you check the Windows Event Viewer for any entries around the time of the crash?
Look under:

Windows Logs > System (for GPU resets / TDR events)

Windows Logs > Application (for Nexus crash entries)

Any entries there would help narrow down the cause.

I apologize, I do get the products mixed up =)

The docking bar application (Nexus?) is the one that crashes. It just flat out goes away without any visible errors (as does Chrome). Whichever product replaces my Start Menu is the one that does NOT crash (Workshelf?).

I will look into the log situation and get back to you. Ty for the rapid reply!

Unfortunately there are no log entries in either log that indicate any GPU or Nexus issues.

The Application log is showing a sporadic information level entry noting that Chrome has performed garbage collection. But I don't think the entries match up with when I had the crashes.

The next time it happens though, I will check the logs immediately to see if there is a correlation.

Some additional details I found when testing.

- The crashes occur with various sites, but it consistently happens when using a Google app such as Google Docs or Google Sheets.

- These crashes do not occur if I do not reload Nexus.

- When I do not reload Nexus, Workshelf (taskbar) is still running and it never crashes.
